New Dangers

Last night started out like any other night at our house. The boys watching TV and me falling asleep on the couch covered by dogs! They wake me up to go to bed and of course I am very crabby! Can you believe that? Same ole' routine I take the dogs downstairs to go outside before bed.....Jeff has already put the girls away. But this time something was different. The dogs were going crazy and there was this very loud, long screeching noise. Just about that minute, something flew up out of the yard and up into the tree. The screeching got louder! All I could think of were the girls. It was like a Chinese Fire Drill.....I was yelling for Jeff, Jason was yelling for Jeff, then Jeff was yelling at me. It was starting to get dark, so I ran and checked in the girls house.....1....2.....3 Yes they were all there! Then these two big Owls flew from one of side of the yard to the other. I have never seen Owls in our yard before. Where is all this Nature coming from...."I hate Nature" But I have to say they were very cool. When they flew they were almost silent but the noise that came out of them when they were in the tree...WOW! Of course then Jeff spent the next 1/2 hour on the internet checking on what kind of Owls they were and what they liked to eat. He listened to all the calls which of course got the dogs all excited again! We decided they were Barn Owls and their diet consisted of small rodents, bats and small birds. So we think the girls are probably too big for them but will keep a very watchful eye out tonight!

The girls earlier in the day..... safe and consuming anything that looked like it wanted to be a blueberry!
