Remember the old saying "You can pick your friends but you can't pick your family" Well, I think that is only partially true. I picked my husband or he picked me...I can't remember. But with my husband came his family, a mother, a brother and a sister-in-law. The only problem with this side of the family is they live on the other side of the United States. We couldn't live any further away if we tried, they live in South Florida and we live in the Northwest part of Washington. I guess we could live in Alaska but I am not going there! The thing about my husband and his brother is they are exactly a like. They have the same sense of humor, temper, disposition, they both love their wives more than anything else and they both hate feet! My husband teases me about my blogging and although my brother-in-law enjoys it because he can catch up on what we are doing, he teases me about it too! We don't get to see them enough, the last time I saw my brother-in-law was 4 years ago. We talk on the phone but it is not the same. He did however give me, his favorite sister-in-law, his secret rib rub and barbeque sauce recipe! I had to swear I would not give it to another soul. My husband doesn't even know the recipe...I prepare the ribs and Jeff has been doing the smoking...works great. This is where the friends come in .....last Sunday we had some friends come over for dinner. So, we decided to smoke ribs.....now remember brother-in-law's recipe. I must call him at least 3 times in this process it is a wonder he answers the phone! Each time I ask him the same questions I had asked the previous time we made these ribs and each time he answers them. Well the ribs were delicious on Sunday so I called to tell him......and what did he say to me? Did you take pictures of them so you could blog about it! I was deflated.....how could I have missed such an opportunity for a good blogging story! Then I remembered in a previous blog I had talked about Rhubarb. Again.....opportunity missed. That morning I got his idea that today of all days was a good time to make that rhubarb pie. So out to the garden I went, picked fresh rhubarb and set out to make my pie. It turned out beautiful.....did I take a picture of the whole process...NO! So our dinner and visit with our friends turned out great, our family helped us once again and all I have left to show you of the whole day is this!
Thank you Family, Friends and Food!
Sounds yummy! You'll have to start leaving your camera out on the counter to remind you to take photos of a good blogging moment. My family makes fun of Jenny and I for blogging, too, but it has helped to keep in touch with many extended family members and friends...my aunt looks forward to reading it everyday!
ReplyDeleteYou maybe be his favorite sister-in-law, but last time I checked, you were the only sister-in-law!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I have never had rubarb pie but I am sure it is yummy!
He has 2 other sister-in-laws on Trish's side! So I am his favorite!
